Fellow Slanters,

Gary Bruner and I have come up with dates for the 2011 Eastern Slant 6 Awards Banquet in Pigeon Forge, TN - Feb. 11-13, 2011.

At this point, these dates look feasible for a lot of people. We will do it in the same place as last year. There will be a banquet dinner on Saturday afternoon, with award presentations following.

Site info:
www.valleyforgeinn.net
800-544-8740 (toll free)
865-453-7770

Room rates are very reasonable ($40-45 for a 2 queen room).

For those of you who have never been to a race or a banquet, this is a great midwinter time to meet racers, bench race, swap stories and parts, and generally enjoy the "Slanted Family."

If a bunch of people step up and say "I can't do that weekend," then we will consider rescheduling, but please speak up soon!!

Hope you all can make it!

Lou

Feb 11 is my anniversary, I wonder if I can talk the wife into the banquet for our celebration.

Excellent!!! Cinda's Birthday is the 12th. What better way to spend one than with Slanted Family.

Sounds great! Should be a fun time. If the weather is nice, we've always talked about doing go karts, which are all over that area.

Cheers,

Lou

Mr. Dad,

Fri: We'll have a dinner somewhere in town, then late night hanging out and BSing.

Sat: Usually breakfast in small groups in the morning, then all meet to hangout, swap parts/stories in late morning and do banquet and awards starting around 2 PM. If weather is good, go karts could be a midday thing before the banquet. After banquet, most go out for dinner or hang out in the big common room, more late night BSing...

Sun: Some do breakfast/brunch and head out.

I usually plan to get there around 5-6 PM Friday and leave around noon Sunday.

It's also pretty common for folks to visit the Bruner Complex in Maynardville, TN to see if Meril can sell them some parts or cars, and learn about Bruner Slant 6 racing escapades and tricks dating back to the mid 60s - pretty fun.

Cheers,

Lou

Gary Bruner has ten rooms or more for our banquet and there are 48.95 a nite for aroom with two queen beds or a king bed. When making resevatoins mention Slant Six racers or Gary Bruner. Gary got us a ten dollar discount a nite for our group. So Show up and Have a Blast.
Lets give Merill Bruner the Championship he desvers .after all the years he has been our mentor. Thanks Ron Parker :D :D :D :D

See Yall There

Woohoo! It'll be a fun time. Thanks to Gary for getting the rooms set up. He has been a big help.

Yep, maybe we can hoist Meril on our shoulders and walk down the main street of Pigeon Forge yelling "Slant Sixes Forever!!"

Lou

I'm really looking forward to this year's banquet, but picturing us doing what you mention above makes me think of a scene out of "Revenge of the Nerds"...

Aw,... What the heck. I'm in! :D

(Just made my reservation  )

Just booked our room. I think they said they have 1-2 more rooms at the low price, but I bet you could sweet talk them into more...

Looking forward to it!

Lou
