Wayne, funny thing is we talked all weekend about how "interesting" my trips to Slant races get.

Would also like to point out that Lou and Seymour were both in the 14's when the DA was never better than 4200'.

Mike J is has now won the last 4 Kearney races in a row.

I had him welded up on the tree Saturday and couldn't run my dial. Both Seymour and I slowed down for no known reason.

IF I could have gotten my junk to leave the starting line it is very possible I would have run a high 13.

My best 60' all weekend was a 2.16.

No known video exists of Neal and Mike J in Round 2 (or my bye run) on Sunday but both Mike and Neal broke out - Neal broke out more and lost. That's pretty much all I have till Seymour posts the race result.

The track guys saw me and my son Dominic in the turbo Daytona making repeated time trial runs together and set up a grudge run for us on the timer. I left first since he's faster. He saw me go and left, and redlighted. THAT was good for some Dad points for sure. That was also my fastest pass ever in the Duster at 18.29 - I would have broke out huge!

Here's a video of that:

My darling wife took all the videos and giggled in the background...

No, she's going through too many of those. I made her use an Adel clamp and a 1/4-20 bolt now. Gets a little rusty in the shower but lasts longer.

Big D,

Great writeup - best post I've seen in a long time. Chris says hi!

Sorry about the truck incident - guy must have been asleep or wasted on something.

Yeah, I agree on the sun and the heat and winds in NE. It didn't cool off until after 8 PM, 4 hrs after we got on the road...

Too bad all those goofs in IN, TX, KY... missed a great time! :P

Got back to Minneapolis about 9AM this morning. Spent the night in Windom, MN and got up early and finished the trip this morning. It was a bit uncomfortable yesterday without any air co. Put down 10 cans of diet pepsi in about 4 hours before it started to cool off.

Thanks to everybody who makes this race possible, host Mike Jeffrey and all the intrepid racers who travel so far to make an event like this possible. The people who run the Kearney track are great too.

In the first round of the Sunday race against George my car was on the rev limiter most of the way down the track and I was sure that the clutch was slipping, something I always worry about eventhough it has never happened. I pulled the bellhousing cover and there was no evidence of wear like dust or fibers. Lou and I both agreed it sounded like it was on the low end chip that I used to launch the car on the starting line. The only way that can happen is if the line loc switch is pressed, apparently I was doing this on an off all the way down the track. I used to have a problem with this but it hasn't happened for years. I guess I will have to wire it so the button has to be pushed and the clutch pedal depressed in order for the low limiter to work.

Anyway I wasn't quite sure if the clutch was going to slip or not so I accelerated hard a couple of times leaving the track, no sign of slippage and the car ran great all the way home. Live and learn.

I gathered all the time slip information to write a story for SSRN and I took a bunch of pictures that I will send to Lukas.

Post subject:  That's Mr. Goof to you, Lou!

I tried to make it but took a wrong turn and ended up in Canton, Ohio, at the National Football Hall of Fame. Bit of a B-day surprize for my #1 son.

I have already discussed with Big D the possibility of a pit crew for next year. But.........since he is trying to make a remake/sequel of the movie "Duel" - I don't know if I want to ride with the guy!

Like I said above, we may move to a somewhat closer venue for many of you. Cedar Falls, IA is my favorite site so far, if folks are amenable.

Wayne, you need to get a car together, dude - pit crew??!! Rob, I'm not even going to comment... :P :P

'Duel' came to mind as I was threading my way down the shoulder Wayne.

Honestly Lou, I am thinking about going to Clay City IF I can come up with the money. I am supposed to go to Monster Mopar the weekend before, but that is still not set in stone. Overtime does seem to be coming back at work too. :D

I can pick up Wayne and John on my way through Indy and include them in the fun too.

IF there is any real interest I will come down. I sent Josh King a PM a couple weeks ago and have not heard anything back though. :?
