Hey everyone greatings from Oklahoma I have a 68 Dart 2dr post with my slant of course I started off with a stock short block becasue of time issues. So I need to know what all i need to do and so on. so i will give a list of what I have and please let me know what else i should do. Thanks

Block is stock
Head is Milled .0100 with a 3 angle job no port work new springs :cry:
I have a 465/270 cam from clifford and new lifters and timing chain
Intake i have an offy 4bbl with a 600 holly jet wise i don't know
Question with the direction of the carb which way is best i have it same as a v8 car i would like to know.
I have a points distributor that has a advance problem
Headers from clifford 6into2 with 2.25 into 2.5 after tranny and then into turbo muflers dumped off at axle.
K&N air cleaner big mother
i still have the 904 with no stall which i have a 2500 but havnt had time and i still have the 7 1/4 with 2.76 in it i have a sure grip unit for it i'm thinking 3.55 for how i use the car on the street
havnt takin it to the track well i have but only to weigh it which i'm not sure on the weight still it said with me 2390 the car is gutted no front bumper or hardware i know im running between 16 and 16.5 so let me know what to do.

sounds nice.... i'd run it the way it is, for kicks and to see your progress each change

1. get rid of points, install MSD with mopar electronic distrib (junkyard)

2. for sure, get rid of 2.76 that is a pig gear, 3.55 if you go the track once in a while, 3.91+ if you go a lot

3. port the head, you can just be careful around the seats and you'll probably need a 'touch up' (it's very hard to do the bowls and not nick a seat)

4. converter

5. degree the cam in if possible

Sounds like a good basic setup, see Thropars post-- good tips.

As far as carb orientation goes, you are going to have some trouble getting your kickdown to work with headers. I suggest simply running a Lokar kickdown cable. This way you can mount the car with the primaries parallel to the engine (90 degrees clockwise from the V-8 orientation) which helps get a little bit better fuel distribution.

Also, if you still have the little 9 inch drum brakes all around, I woudl keep a close eye on brake condition and adjustment.

Carefully map your spark advance curve too. You should have no more than 30 deg (maybe more like 26-29) total advance (w/mechanical only). This can cost you up to a full second if it's too far advanced. That carb is on the big side too, so you'll have to do some tuning.
