That is tough. I was in AZ, NM, and TX for years and always wanted to make it to a Slant 6 race. They were always just too far.

Depending on where you are in Texas there should be a Mopar Club fairly close to you. Find that club and there will surely be a couple Slant 6 cars around. Then you get something started yourself. Get together with the other racers and start racing your Slant 6 car and have some fun. Maybe it will catch on and others will start bringing out there Slanted cars to race too.

I won a couple Friday Night Trophy Dashes at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix with my completely stock '72 Dart running high 19 second quarter miles. It wasn't fast, but it sure was consistent!

What part of Texas?
Even if there aren't Slant-specific races, surely you could run your car in some local races. I've got my eye on the West Texas Region SCCA autocrosses, and maybe a few passes on one of the drag strips in my area (Lubbock).
After I win the lottery and do some serious work and tuning on the Valiant, even the Big Bend Open Road Race in Fort Stockton would be doable.

Since Texas takes up one third the country, where you are located would help a bunch. But as far as this future Slant Six racer can figure ( I live in north Fort Worth) the Mo-Kan event just north of Joplin would be the closest for me, but they've scheduled it up against a couple local events here. The best bang for the buck is Monster Mopar in St. Louis the weekend after Labor Day and takes about twelve hours at a civilized speed. If you have a Slanter you want to race and are in our area, you are most welcome to run with us in the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge. Try these two sites: www.cowtownmopars.com or www.tmccc.com . Keep in touch. RICK :D

Closest Slant race for you would be either Topeka or Las Vegas.

"Zilla I'm not sure who the you is that you're refering to, but I'll guarantee you one thing: Las Vegas IS NOT a short drive from north Texas. Mo-Kan is 6-7 hours. Monster Mopar 12, Clay City I estimate about 12 and yes, Topeka is about 7-8. Here's a good one: somebody in our Mopar club did Las Vegas and the Nats in Columbus; The Nats were a shorter drive. I wish 73 Dart would check in with his Texas location so I could maybe see if we're neighbors...........RICK:shock:

I'm almost positive I remember seeing something about a pretty large and active Mopar club in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. There are probably more than one.

You should easily be able to get something started in your area!

I was in the Southwest Mopar Club from El Paso/Las Cruces when I was stationed at Fort Bliss.

"Sandman" Simmons is absolutly correct, the largest Mopar club in the country is our own Fort Worth bunch with just over a hundred members. It's a fun loving bunch without, thankfully, all the politics and fat egos that seem to show up in some other groups. We have everything from Hemi's to Neons, trucks, old tin ( like from the 30's) heck we even have a gaggle of AMC owners! We meet at Billy Bob's in the Fort Worth Stockyards on the third Sunday of each month around 4pm. Swinger you are right we can almost toss cow chips at each other if we're only a hour apart!! Some of us do the tour thing and we always can find room for one more ( Nats, Monster Mopar etc). p.s. For heavens sake Sim keep safe and if you or D.I. need anything, post up and I think we could figure something out.......RICK

Thanks Rick,
DI and I are just keeping our heads down and takin' care of business. I don't need anything on my end. Thanks for the offer.
I'm a member of the North Georgia Mopar Club in Atlanta and they have about 500 members registered I think. Now, the turnout at our monthly cruises, meetings and picnics is not 500, but I would venture a guess that the bigger events draw well over 150. Same thing too. Lots of everything represented in the club.

Mopar to ya!

Rob
