whats your opinion of chrome moly push rods?

I am about to reassemble my slant, and want this to be a one time only deal.

current build up:

1975 225 slant
clifford intake with holley 390
.090 shaved head, 3 angle job and large oversized valves
.060 overbore block
clifford headers

going to get:

dual roller timing chain
GM HEI conversion (thanks dan.....)
deck block another .030

if you think spending the extra cash for the chrome moly for the pushrods is worth it let me know.

(getting new tappets too.....)

You will almost certainly need shorter pushrods. CrMo is probably not necessary with that cam, but is not much more expensive, if at all. I have used the Mancini Racing cut-to-fit kits, but I've heard Smith Bros is the best deal and very good quality.

Oh, they're OK to use...if Molly don't mind!

Seriously, the stock pushrods are rather good, so no real need to spend the cash for uprated ones unless you're building a race engine...

With 0.090" off the head and 0.030" off the block, you will be hard pressed to use stock length pushrods.

I am guessing I need the shorter rods now too, but no one seems to have a "formula" for the math to figure it out, so I will probably have the guys balancing the assembly check for me when it is put together.

sound good to you guys?

or does anyone have a formula?

Yes, it is definitely best to measure on your specific engine.
