Sorry, if this gets a bit long winded, but here we go...
I bought a nice 66 two door post about six months ago to replace my dented to hell four door. The two door wasn't running, but it came with a 76 /6 that I was told was a good running engine, I'd just have to put it in. Well, I didn't really do my homework before putting it in, and now it's in and won't run(needs to be rewired and there's the transmission not lining up properly. I know about the adapter and all that so...). Now do I take the /6 out of the four door(it was rebuilt about 6 years ago) and put it in the 2 door, or should I keep the 76 engine and just deal with the probs there?
I just want a good running car to get me around town, not a performance car or anything.

Swapping in the '66 engine will be more work but probably give a better result. You know it was rebuilt and know it was running well. The '76, all you have is somebody's word...
