so when i purchased my car, the headliner was already taken down, and the bows were in the trunk. problem is, none of the bows were numbered or anything. some of them have colors on them, red, blue, and so on.

does anybody have an idea of what i can do about this? i want to put a new headliner on, but i hear if the bows are not in the correct order, they will never fit....

You are correct; they have to be in the proper order. Probably the best way is to find another car and compare. I don't know if a parts manual shows the colors or not, but it might.

I ran into that problem once and ended up temporarily taping the bows into position and seeing how they fit. It was a seriously frustrating swap and try and swap again situation.

My 70 FSM did not list the colors, it just said "remove the bows one at a time and insert in new headliners in the same position..."

You may want to trial fit the bows into the car before inserting them into the fabric headliner. In general, the bows with the short "end bends" go to the front, the longer bends go in the rear.

recieved my headliner from year one, went to install it, only to find, that the space between bows in my car is 11", and the space on the headliner only is 8". to me, this doesn't fit. is the headliner material suppose to stretch 3" between bows? i think not!

am i correct on this? i'm looking for some backup.

--- edit, they sent me a 2 door headliner! =- refund!
