The optional wiper setup in '64 was a variable-speed setup. Works like a dining room dimmer switch. You need the special switch, the special motor, the 4-wire harness between the switch and motor, and—pay attention, this is important—all the pieces that connect the wiper motor's crank arm to the wiper transmission bar links. They are not the same as with the single-speed setup. Any '64-'66 A-body with variable-speed can contribute the motor (many '64-'65 cars have it, and I don't think I've ever run across a '66 without it). The right switch for your '64 is '64-only, so it's "go fish" on the used-parts market, but a '65-'66 switch can also be made to work without much difficulty. The hookups are the same, it's just the shaft length and configuration, and provisions for electric screenwashing, that are different.

Thanks Dan! I really appreciate the thoroughness of your replies. I can't even count the number of times your informative posts have helped me out. I don't mean to make this a forum love-fest, but sometimes a simple thank you just doesn't seem appropriate.
