After doing a little brake checkup on my Valiant, I decided to take a look at the rotors on my wife's '04 Cavalier. Does anyone notice something odd about the minimum thickness specs?

18.7 millimeter = 0.736 220 472 inch
Must be because they sell thicker brake pads in the parts of the world that use the metric system. Yeah, thats the ticket, yeah...

That just means they're out of spec in the US, even if they're brand new!

It's approximately equal to half the correct figure, but not even that by an eighth of an inch or so.

25.4/18.70 = 1.36
Someone flubbed the conversion badly. Maybe a former NASA type?

The moral of the story? Always do a "make-sense check" on the numbers.
