I just bought 4 brand new taillight bezels for my 74 Dart Sport restoration. The black paint in the original bezels has faded and the pitting is terrible. The New Orleans area is a hot, humid climate, however I don't want these new bezels to pit or fade as the originals did. Any preventative maintenance ideas for the new bezels to avoid fading or pitting. I don't think I can locate these bezels again in 2026.

I am serious. Leaving the new bezels in the plastic bags do not allow me to show the car. Any tricks to preserving these pot metal bezels?

They're potmetal. They're Chrysler (cheap) potmetal. They're Chrysler potmetal made in 1974 (when Chrysler was having severe quality problems across the board).

Eventually, they will pit and fade. There is nothing you can do to stop that happening. Fortunately, there are businesses that restore such potmetal items to as-new condition.

Maybe have them sprayed in a clear coat of some kind?
