OK, I forgot to mark my coil wires + and -. I don't have my old coil (it was bad). My coil wires are black/yellow and brown. The brown one is a little thicker and has a connection with a flat part to the round connector. The black/yellow just has a bigger round connector. It is a 73 Dart Swinger. Thanks!

The wire that goes to the + on the coil comes from the ballast resistor.

So either trace the wire, or test for continuity with an ohmmeter. You should get 0 ohms resistance

For a stock setup, brown is goes to the + coil and black/yellow or blue/yellow to the - coil.

If you hook the coil up backwards, the car will probably run, but not well - the spark will have the wrong polarity at the plug. It is easier for the hot part of the plug (the center electrode) to emit electrons than the colder (ground electrode).

When I did it, I noticed right off that the car didn't run quite right - then noticed my mistake and fixed it - no harm done.

Stock Mopar harnesses and coils had a flat side on one of the posts to keep you from getting it wrong. Aftermarket coils don't.
