I want to offset the valve stem center of the exhaust valves, .040 toward the intake valve. If I move the center that far, can the stock rocker arms handle it, or will I have to use offset rocker arms? Thanks for your thought and input. :?

If you want to be really Zen about this then make custom spacers that are .040" thinner between the intake and exhaust rockers and shim the exhaust rocker over toward the intake. The exhaust pushrod will be very slightly angled, but that's nothing to worry about. Small blocks have a huge angle between the lifter and pushrod in comparison.
