Saw this today in the pits at the Chrysler Classic in Norwalk, Ohio. Owner said it ran 13's in the 1/4 without NOS. He was still dialing in the jets on the carb to work with his custom Fogger system he had fabricated onto the polished HyperPak. He said he used to run a Offy but someone came up to him one day who said he was with Chrysler when this intake was being developed and was in on the goings on of that. He said his name but I forget what it was. Anyhow this guy told him he ought to be running a HP intake on it, that it would be really cool looking on there. Well the owner told him he already had the Offy and Hyper Packs cost a little much for that. Well the guy told him that he'd given his buddy one years ago and he figured he'd never use it and he would see if he still had it. Well the intake was still sitting there unused and the ex Chrysler guy got it back and gave it to this guy here. And now its finally, after all these years, going fast just as it was designed to do. Pretty neat to see and and pretty neat story behind it I thought.

Was that on a '73 or 4 speed Dart?

Last time I saw it at Columbus it was running 13's on spray.

Sounds like he got it running a lot better now.

The car is definitely a showpiece. :D

It was a 1975. Unfortunately my pics don't do it justice. It was unbelievable how detailed it was for a race car. He said he had a spray bar NOS on it before and it was worth about 10mph, but I didnt catch what he said it did for E.T.'s. Very nice guy to talk to. He was busy reading plugs so I didnt want to bother him too much. Oh for you NGK boys out there, thats what he was running.

That's John Mayberry's car, longtime Slant racer and super nice guy. Glad to hear he's down in the 13s on the motor now. Beautiful car.
