I'm fixing up the above truck head to go in place of my current 65 Dart 225 head. Could someone with a truck service manual lookup the stock valve spring specs for length, OD, & wire size?

Dont think your gonna have any luck finding that in a service manual, maybe SBi or Pioneer, someone that manufactures the springs. What do you need the specs for any how? Best thing to do would be to get a caliper and measure it yourself.

There are various 225 valve springs offered for sale with different lengths, etc.

Since my 65 Dart Service manual has the length & od in the Specs area of the manual for Group 9 Engine, I figured the 85 Dodge Truck manual would have a similiar setup.

Specs on my stock 65 Dart spring show 1.93 length with 1.010-1.030 inside dia (.180 wire dia).

If you could explain why you need this information, we might be able to help you a little bit better. If push comes to shove, I've got a full set from an '82 Ram sitting around that I can measure, but they're still installed on an old head and I didn't intend to pull them for a while.

Two issues:
1)Springs sold both by Ebay and Internet Companys seem to have different heights and wire sizes for a "stock" application. VS510 has a wire dia of .192 offered for a 80's application thru "RockAuto". Ebay just had a spring for the same stock application with a wire size of .180. I think if I had the 85 truck spec I could identify which of the "stock" applications best fits. Whatever I get then will be qualified by my machine shop for pressure at the open and closed position before installation(ie 80 @ 1.6875 and 178 @ 1.3125 or whatever.
2)I also would like to know (if there is a change in spring design) if the Dodge boys changed the rating because of solid lifter versus hyd lifter application since I'm installing the head from a hyd cam engine into a solid lifter cam engine. I didn't spot spring rating issue being discussed in previous forums involving head swaps. The pre 71 cam has a different config than the 85 cam? Most cam manuf recommend a certain spring to match their cam configuration?

That's probably not a significant issue; wire size and height are not the only factors governing spring pressure. The type of steel used plays a significant factor. It is likely that both springs you listed are very near stock specs in terms of open and closed pressure; that's the critical parameter. Best I can tell, the valve springs are interchangeable between hydraulic and mechanical valve-trains. I've never heard of a difference, and there is no noticeable difference in wire diameter or height. Keep in mind that while yes, aftermarket cam manufacturers do specify specific springs for their cams, there is still some leeway in spring selection.

Variation between the most aggressive and wimpiest factory cams was so negligible that I can't imagine them requiring different springs. Keep in mind that the factory never intended for the engine to rev over 5000 rpm, so valve float isn't going to be a tremendous issue.
