Post subject: Do the brake upgrade
PostPosted: Mon Jun 04, 2001 9:03 am
I am in the final stages of doing the disk brake upgrade on my '65 Dart and have a few questions.

Has anybody used a power brake MC on a manual system? One of the mopar rags had a blurp about this in the past. They said it improved the pedal feel. Has anybody else tried this?

Does anybody know of a replacement for the boot and spring the goes over the MC push rod? Mine has succumbed to the years.

It appears that the rear rubber brake line on the 8.25 axle from a '75 Dart is about 3" to short. Does anybody know of a replacement for this line? Or do I need to extend the bracket.

I have the newer aluminum master cylindars from power brake cars on both of my manual disk brake Darts. They work just fine. I don't know if they are better or worse than the original equipment master cylindars as they were installed at the time of the disk brake conversion. I made my own adapter plate by cutting off the rear of the old cast iron master cylinder. I used a large hole saw to cut the hole for the new cylinder, and mounting carb studs in holes I drilled and tapped in the new adapter to mount the new aluminum cylinder. The adapter plate gets mounted to the old pedal bracket studs and the master cylindar gets mounted to it.
