I have a 1981 slant 6 in my Ram and I am seeing some timing issues. I think that it may be from the module and would like to change it out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am not burning any oil but it sounds like i have piston knock when going up hills. I have checked the timing and it is about as close as I can get. I have the 1 BBL carb.
I have seen an HEI conversion and would be interested in something like it but the ones that saw were for newer and older models.
She has about 130,000 miles.
I also need to find a power steering adjusting bolt.

I have an 82 truck. You can look at my site to see some of the things I've done. To convert to Hei or something like it you will have to get rid of the computer and related hardware (Lean Burn System). Go back to the earlier electronic ignition system, i.e. control module(original equipment, Hei, or Aftermarket), electronic distributor and maybe aftermarket coil.
