Aussie oil pumps?

Post subject:  Aussie oil pumps?
Has anyone given any thought to importing some Aussie oil pumps? I'm thinking they would make a nice set up for someone who wants to run a remote oil filter somewhere and not have to use the adapter plate on the oil pump. I think I would keep it on the RH side but point it down beside the block. This would free up some space around the distributor too.
I would be interested in one if the cost was not prohibitive? Shipping to USA may be bad? Any ideas on the costs? Is there a Rock Auto in Australia ??

One thing that I hate is the fact that when the filter is remove it dumps oil all over the pump. A remote filter would be nice but it might be more trouble than its worth.

I agree it'd be nifty to have a steady source of Australian-type oil pump bodies. That's all we'd need, is the bodies; the guts and cover plates are the same as US pumps. I don't know what the availability situation is on these, but I bet Ozhemi or Rayman440 can tell us...!

I eventually will run a remote filter even if I have to run the adapter, I just thought since they already have one built, maybe we could use it. We'll see if they chime in on an approx. cost to get them here.

PS. Maybe Lou can put a couple in his carry-on luggage on his next trip back from the land of Oz.

I could have sent over all you wanted..just loaded a container while I was there for 3 months (got home about a week and a half ago)
I am unloading the container in a few days actually :D

I can holler next time I am doing a container, it is really the cheapest way to get anything back here (just have to work around the time frame)
For just a few of the pumps, air mail might not be too bad, but for quantity..containers are the go I reckon.

Or of course, someone's luggage...lol..mine was sure full of parts when I came back with some stuff I wanted back straight away.

Instead of a filter mounting pad, they have two female pipe thread fittings: One outlet and one inlet. The RH placement of the steering box on RHD cars meant the filter had to be mounted remotely. The RHD oil pump is a cleaner/nicer/lower-restriction solution than using an adaptor on the LHD pump.

Another advantage of the aussie setup is the ability to fill the filter with oil before screwing it on; resulting in no oil pressure problems when starting after an oil change.

So whats a good .au oil pump go for?

Do you know of any online "spare parts" stores that have online catalogs like autozone does here? I hit up google.com.au and had zero luck.,...

Well, that's true, but the oil has to make its way through the length of the inlet and outlet pipes, too! So, depending on the specific setup, this might be a "left hand giveth & right hand taketh away" kind of deal.

You guys need to quit talking about all of these "trick" parts! Now I am wasting my day doing internet searches for a AUS oil pump!!!

What years and models of RHD cars came with a /6?

(I bet last week they sold for $20.00, now that everyone wants one we'll have to add another 0 :lol: )
