I've got my spring, valve and plug sitting here next to the keyboard. Is there a way to measure the spring for a go/no-go check? I've got an obscure Linux installation going right now, so can't view my FSM. CJ |

Stick a ΒΌ" nut in the threaded cap so as to push a little harder on the spring and just be done with it |

Highly scientific.... Who are you, and what did you do with Dan? Probably be OK doing that. Shoot, the new engine is almost finished anyway! CJ |

It seems to be happy now. Reminds me of setting the action on my strat with a couple of pennies under the neck. Long as it works! Thanks Dan. Now to dig my spare head out of the pile. It needs to go up to the machine shop for mock up. CJ |

The good news... the SL6 oil pump is outside of the oil pan and the relief valve plug is easy to remove when the engine is installed. I give the relief valve spring setting a fast "best guess" and then get the engine running. Once I see the oil pressure, I adjust the spring tension to get the pressure I want. DD |
