So just yesterday as I was showing my Duster to my dad and showing him the work I had done so far on it, I went to close the hood and heard a loud *PWANNNGGG!!*. Found out the driver's side coil spring had popped off of one of the tabs that holds tension on it to keep the hood up. Is this something that's hard to fix? Just looking at it through the opening for the hinge, it looks like a serious pain to get to. Any tricks you guys know of for getting at it?

If you pull the fender it's not hard to get to. The hard part is finding a good one to replace it with. I'm guessing, but the end of the spring probably didn't "slip" it broke off. If you can't find one locally, I know of a "jurassic junk yard" that has a few A bodys, but I can't get down to it until next Saturday. I'm sure that they have several though.

I've got one for either side.

Let me know if you need it.

I might take you up on that. I'm going to see if mine's actually broken (once I take the time and figure out how to best pul the fender off), and if it is I'm going to look at installing a pair of pneumatic shocks like I did on my Toyota. Worked awesome on that, so if I can make 'em work on the Duster, I'll do that.
