Picked up a replacement motor for my pickup and need a little help identifying the year before I work on the rod and main bearings.

Of course it is a Slant Six
Blue in color
Numbers on the Passenger side rearward portion of the block up high are a little fuzzy but they are either:
4F488755 or 4P488755

Two a-fixed tags read 1504: (Yes there is a dot over a dot after the 4) with AAWJ near by.

On the back of the block, up high is a vertical stamp:
PD

Driver side front portion of the block has:
2806830-8 - BH on the driver side of the block farther back

Under the alternator bracket - 4225 R 6 19

5 Freeze plugs with extra ribs on this side of the block.

The rib going back from the water pump mount gets much larger instead of remaining 1/4".

The crank has 52 stamped on one lobe and a B, R or 8 on another. The rod bearing width is 1 inch (not diameter. Width.) Rings on and on if you tap it.

If I understand what I am reading correctly this makes the block a 1968 to 1970 production with a forged crank.

Is there a way to identify a forged crank for certain?

Crank is still forged, right?

Yup, cast cranks started in the middle of the 1976 model year.

I have a manifold for a two barrel. The distributor is junk. Got any recommendations for fuel and spark combination for a pickup.

It is married to a 727 transmission that I just replaced the clutches and torque converter on.

I want to build for simple maintenance.
