I just removed the NAPA 1806 oil filter form my slant, with very little mess :) This is the filter with the built in stand pipe. When I installed it, even though my engine had the short stand pipe in the oil pump, I had oil pressure twice as fast. When removing it there was only a few teaspoons of oil dribble out, not a half to a whole quart like a regular filter.

Props and thanks to SlantSixDan for talking about this filter in an old thread about standpipes.

Glad to help out! I hadn't really thought about the anti-mess benefit of this filter...started using it only after I no longer had space or facilities to change my own oil :-(

I'm due to change the filter and last time I did, I used one of these types of filters.

How did you manage draining the oil out of it though? Have to poke a hole in the shell and let it sit draining in your catch pan - so while the mess is out from under the car....
