Ford 240/300ci 6 cylinder valves work, but the exhaust is a bit big. They are 1.78" and 1.56" standard. On my +.030" 225 I had the exhaust valves cut down to 1.45". The stems are smaller, but if you need new guides anyway it doesn't cost any more. You'd need new valve spring retainers and locks, but if you're doing upgrades already the 11/32" retainers and locks don't cost any more than the 3/8" stem items. If you want something a little more 'drop-in' try http://www.engnbldr.com/ He had some stainless 1.70/1.44 (I think) valves with stock stems size. I bought a set as the head I'm doing is going on a stock bore engine any the valves look very good.

Chev 1.72/1.50 valves and springs work.....several folks here including me run them

The chev and 318 valves are longer than stock slant v/vs

I eventually had to go to shorter pushrods with a bigger Erson cam and some decking.

It came out of the one that came with my last Sub body......the short block is in the middle of the 350 pile.

1.72/1.50 valves are from heavy duty (3/4 ton pickups) Chev trucks.

Some are 3/8 valve stems.

1.72 chevy intakes came in 283 and 307 small blocks. The 1.5 exhausts came in all the first gen small blocks except LT1 and Z28 engines.

I have a set of the enginebuilder valves too. They are very nice, and you can hardly buy any valve for what he sells them for. I just got the rest of my garage unpacked last week and will finally be getting going on using them. Unless you have some special needs, a made to fit valve seems the way to go.
