PostPosted: Sat Dec 01, 2001 5:00 pm
I've decided to make a bracket racer out of my 63 Dart GT,and would like to list what I have stockpiled for the build. Hoping for high 15's.If I am taking any wrong turns on the ingredients line up,maybe you racers can straighten me out before I get started.
63 block .030 over cast hypuretectic pistons.
.010 removal from deck. std.rod&mains.crank is very good cond.just polish.
72 cyl.head. oversize valves. exhaust porting and cleaning.gasket match porting of all ports.I have two heads to play with, practice port I like to call it.Alot of time soaked up here.(DD's articles are excellent!).050removal from head.
Proline's Offy with dual webers
Comp cam #264s-8 .440lift 220dur.
MP electronic ign. package
Cloyes heavy duty double roller timing set.
Elect. fuel pump
Clifford headers
Trans get dropped off next week at KlemsRacingTrans. for a competition rebuild. 2.74 lowgear set TCI Trans scat valve body. and some other internal mods.
8 3/4 sure grip with 3.91's
any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Drew

Looks like you're in pretty good shape. I suggest running a 2400-3000 RPM stall converter (10" at the largest) and a bigger cam. A 225 or 230 @ 0.050" cam will still be quite smooth if you're worried about streetability. I have the MP .490" cam, 234 deg @0.050" and it is pretty well behaved on the street. With that slightly larger cam, I'd also knock 0.090" off the head if you're using stock compression height pistons. With this combo, you should have no trouble hitting high-15's, low 15's or high 14's should be possible.

Happy building,

Lou

Looks pretty good, I would add a windage tray onto the list.
If this is really going to be a "tow to the track racecar",I'd give it some more cam and rear end gearing. (4.56)
If you plan to drive it to the track, put together what you already have, "tweak it in" and be ready for Rockingham in April!

Thanks for your input guys.Since I don't have a trailer and I live only 15min. from Atco raceway,I will be driving to the track.I can see it now... Slicks and tools and floor jack in the back of the wife's new Durango, yep, that'll last long.I'll have a trailer by mid season.
Anyone want to swap new in the box Comp.cam#264s-8 for something a little more aggressive? E-Mail if so. MoparBrat63@aol.com
Thanks again,Drew
