OK, so I am installing carpet yesterday in a house......and look out the back door.Its a 1965 Dodge van!! Really cool. I ask the lady who's it is.It was her dad's, he bought it new.I asked to look at it, and she said yes.....she wants to sell it!! So, I open up the door, and look at the tag on the door sill.and pop the dog house.Slant 6!! The trans looks odd.I look st it, and the starter is LOW, and it looks like the trans is attaced w/ a 1 inch spacer.I look under the van, and it is a 8 3/4, w/ 3:55. I dont know if it is a sure grip or not.
HERE is my question: is the "spacer" I saw mating the trans an adapter to run a 727? He dad bought it new, and used it for hunting and stuff.so maybe he got a HD tranny? What can I look for to tell for sure what I am looking at?

If it's an automatic the van has an adapter plate to use the A727 behind the slant.
