Hi,

Looking through my ARP price list last night and I noticed two versions of rod bolts, 142-6001 and 142-6002, no real difference in the description, and the price is similar. I don't have an ARP catalog, so I don't know what it says.

Anyone know the difference in 6001/6002?

thanks,
mark

The difference is in the bolt head. p/n 142-6001 has a round head with 1 flat side. 142-6002 has 2 flat sides opposite each other. This is per the 2001 ARP catalog.

Thanks!
Is the rod bolt with an extra flat for a special application? Aftermarket rod? Stroker crank? Just a different head design?
Is one better than the other?

thanks again,
mark

I really couldn't tell you. It's up to you to figure out which one you need by seeing what head shape your rod bolts have.

I have always used the 142-6001 with the one flat.
These bolts always seem to need some head clearance work to fit / fully seat on the SL6 con rod. They do a good job of spreading the load out evenly around the bolt hole area.
My guess is that the "2 flat side" bolts *may* fit without the additional bolt head clearance work but I have never used the 142-6002, has anyone out there used them?

I will have to see which ones I have in my extra part box. I have always used the small block bolts with no problem. then the slant six bolts came out so I ordered some and they were wrong for my application.
