I wanted to the 100 amp altenator for my car 1969 dart. Is there anything I should know before I get one and want one would be best? I have electronic ign. w/the chrome ecu

Andrew what alternator you use should be based on several factors the higher the amp output the more electrical devices can be used. ie 500 watt radio system ect. As for as the ignition if you don't use a lot of electrical devices a small amp works fine. On my race car i use a 37 amp alternator. But i don't have but one small light at the rear and a electric fuel pump. I also use the mopar electronic ignition with the chrome box and an aftermarket high voltage coil. Have had no problems with this setup thanks Ron

I do have a electric fuel pump, 300watt amp, cd player, electric fan, and the basic stuff on a street car. My battery is in the trunk and I can not get a good charge on the battery so it goes dead after the 2nd or third try to start my car when it is cold out. Could there be something that I am missing?

Andrew make sure you have a good ground on the battery and have the battery tested for cold cranking amps. Check the voltage with the car running voltage should be 13.50 to 14.00 if not check the voltage regulator. One tip that the alternator tech told me at the shop is for cars with high amp amps is the last 5 minutes you drive the car turn the amp off or the radio off that way the battery can recover somewhat Thanks Ron

Andrew one thing i forgot was when we put the battery in the trunk on my car we had to run a ground cable from the frame or body to the engine block. You won't get a bood ground through the motor mounts Thanks Ron
