hello fellow sl6sages- havent written into the forum in a while but have been getting quite an education by reading each days blurbs. i have an issue which few might appreciate. my tank- a 350k77aspen wagon still runs daily like hell on the rox. super old tanks like this start to have peculiar problems with narrow interest levels because few keep and run them as long as i do. here is the query- my left lower door hinge is so worn that the door drops abot 4 inches when opened which leads to banging, awful profanity and acrobatics when trying to close it. it appears the pin on which the hinge turns is shot to hell.i have been unable to find a new hinge. year one seems to have them but i need a mortgage at their prices. forget the yards or chrysler. pep boys has the hinge pins for most mopars but not the 76-80 f bodies. any sage advice on sourcing or a quick fix? thanks tons. paladin

Buy a larger pin and drill the hole oversize to match. You might need a machine shop to do the work if it's really bad. I've done several that were moderately worn.

If you want it to last, have them drill and tap for a zerk so you can grease it periodically.

Just go to a junkyard and find an F body there to take a hinge off of. Surely not all of them are high mile high use cars. Also, look at the J and M body cars, their hinges might be the same. I don't know if hinges from the passenger side or rear door of a 4 door will interchange to the front (they might), but they'd be worn much less. You should be able to do the whole job for less then $20.
