hey guys, can anyone tell me if or where i can purchase a new oil pump pickup for my slant six. i went to the store today and they said they had no listing. this is the only part im waiting on to close up the bottom of my engine. i was hoping to put a new one in. i guess i could clean my old one if that is my only choice, but hopefully someone will have a tip.
thanks

Take your old oil pickup to your local machine shop and have them hot tank it. Years ago I had my machine shop hot tank an oil pan and pickup. It cost me $15 and they threw them in with a bunch of other parts getting cleaned. The pan and pickup came out spotless and clean. If you don't have physical damage, don't worry about replacing it. Clean it and spend your money elsewhere.

http://www.partsamerica.com lists one for a '73 Dart, so it should work in your Scamp.

Seeing that the 60-66 pick-up is NA and hard to find, I would pry open, rework and clean your current unit.

I use a pair of wire cutters to get under the folded metal lip, and pry it up.
Do not pry open the area where it is open to the screen, leave this as is for reassembly ref.
Once inside, chamfer the ends of the tube and clean, then re-assemble by pinching the edge back down.

If needed, I can make you a deal on a new, "blueprinted", ported SL6 oil pump with a "Dutra" case hardened drive gear.
If interested, send me a PM

thanks doug. you have been very helpful with my engine build. heck i wouldn't have my block if it wasn't for you. i didn't mean to say oil pump. i mean oil pickup. i am going to give taking it apart a try, and also see if the 63 dart by my house is still there and maybe get the one from that as a spare. i still have those main bearing caps i need to send to you. next time i am at my dads i will grab them so i can send them out. sorry about that, and thanks again.

If you grab a oil pick-up out of that 63 Dart, also get the pan... lot's of people are looking for the 60-66 A-Body SL6 oil pan.
Heck, also grab the main seal cap while you are under the car, seems like those are always cracked, stripped-out or broken.
