How can one determine whether you have a 170 cu inch or a 225 cu inch? Is it encoded in the engine block number? If so, where is that located? Thanks,

Yes, it is stamped on the block above the coil. There is a ledge on the block deck that has a string of numbers. Clean up that area between the block and head and tell us what you find.

Ted, thanks for the quick reply. It's a 170, which after reading up on other comments on the 170, I'm kinda psyched about. I just ordered a clutch kit and have the replacement 3-speed trans ready. I thought it odd there were no other engine serial numbers near the "170". Is that odd?
