I got out of the Service in 1970 and inherited my father's Citroen as my car to get around. It was a good car but after having an undiagnosed heating problem for one year, the head finally had a crack in it. So I was without wheels and had to find one quickly as I was going to J.C. almost every day. I was walking through an unknown neighborhood and noticed this red car for sale. It looked pretty sharp and when I asked how much it was, they said $425.00. $425.00 for a sharp, red 1964 Plymouth Valiant with the famous Slant Six engine. This was my first Valiant and I quickly grew to love the car and cherish it for it's great reliability, great handling and good mileage. I had the 64 Valiant for 12 years and put 200,000 miles on the car. The only two major things the car ever needed was one new rear end and a transmission at 200,000 miles on the speedometer. The car also had a fantastic eight track player in it. Since my first Valiant, I've owned five more Valiants, one 1966 Dart and now my current ride is a 1962 Dodge Lancer. It has the 225 slant six, 79,000 miles on the speedometer and the whole interior has been redone. I have had to get a fair number of parts but have found most and the car is a real joy to drive. I plan on rechroming the front and rear bumpers. It's my first Mopar in the 1960-1962 range. But I'm not finished yet. I just bought a 1961 Dodge Lancer in Ohio and should receive that one on Thursday. Looks to be in very good shape with the exception of the trunk being fairly rusty. So I'll have both years of the Dodge Lancer. Can't wait to see the 61 on Thursday. I've owned these 8 Mopars starting back in 1970. Photos can be found at:

Welcome on the board from another '62 Lancer owner. Mine looks to be the same colour as yours!

A very good car, the Lancers in 1962 (only year that were sold in Mexico) were all acquired by the Armed Forces and remained in service until 1982 when they were replaced by the DART sedan, which now are more Lancers than Valiants running , through the same thing were cared for by military for over 20 years. Do not stop caring for them. Greetings
