Does anyone have the p/n and specs (temp range switch is designed to open at) for the radiator mounted thermo switch for the EGR system on a 78 D100 /6 with 3 spd std trans? My switch appears to be open all of the time and I can't hook up my EGR system because it won't run well at all when cold. NAPA has several listed, but all have different temp ranges, with some as low as 68 degrees. Thanks-Mike

Those are the ones on Rockauto.

150 degrees sounds about right. Engine should be up to temperature before EGR is introduced.
:D

In that era of head i've only encountered blue ( 76-78 ), and yellow (1977+)

Interesting.

Come to think of it, I may have grabbed that off the '74 list. Reflex I guess. Just search on your year, that should get the right one.

Yeah, I drive a '74...

I've been no the local NAPA, the only only one that they show is rated to open between 45 and 72 degrees (blue). I was under the impression that this should only open when up to operating temperature. I want to get this hooked back up to see if it eliminates the pinging problem I've been having. I've done numerous carb tunings, replaced springs in the distributor, messed with timing settings, checked for vac leaks, etc. Mike

Try another parts store. 72 Celsius maybe?
