Will the auto tranny from the slant six bolt up to a 318?

I know there are bb/sb only 727's, manual trannies use different bellhousings for bb/sb applications...

I think it has the 904? and have heard that some 904's came with 2 bolt patterns..is this true, and without being able to look at the car in depth right now, how can one tell??

The transmissions have different bell housings and will not enter-change from small block to slant six.
Have not ever seen of any dual pattern 904.

There are dual pattern slant six/small block bellhousings for trucks with large flywheels, clutches and NP435 transmissions, but no dual pattern slant six/small block transmission cases. There are slant six 727s, I put one in my '74 D100 Club Cab, but a Duster will have an A904.

so if Im reading this right, I cant pull the slant six out of the car, and drop in a 318 using the original transmission???

I ask because I was supposed to get this car for $100 a couple years ago...Life happened, and I didn't get it...its been sitting with the carb/alternator off/out...haven't tried to turn the motor yet...I can get a cheap cheap running 318, and drop her into it, just to get it running/driving...

otherwise I would have to assume that for 10+years of the carb being off, either animal debris or moisture has gotten into the engine....

it was supposedly running good, but smoking when parked, but was a daily driver, so a rebuild is necessary anyway....

Hopefully I'll buy it for myself for christmas :D just need a cheap fix (I KNOW I'll have to drain/flush the gas tank, redo the brakes, flush the fluids, and hope the tranny is good)......

I'll bet you a penny you can put a carb on that motor, replace the alternator, prime it, and it will start right up. I've heard of slants coming back after worse treatment.

I'm a bettin man, and I bet your right

I already found a running 69 225, for the cost of the car...should I buy the engine first, then the car??? I'm trying to do this with as little money as possible...my 63 d100/440 project bled me dry

just looking into a slant powered light car, I can fine tune for maximum feul economy

Heck, buy the whole car, pull the motor, then part it out or sell it whole. Do it all for free in the long run.
