Hi All,

I'm curious how much power folks are putting out on their *street* /6 motors.

I have no idea what mine puts out - but I know that I can go 100MPH up Altamont pass (not saying I've ever done this, BTW). . . without flooring the gas pedal. . .

:D

I may end up putting it on a dyno - I really have no idea what it puts out - BUT I can tell you that Doug truly earned the name "Guru" on this build!!!

About 10 years ago I did up a 225 (street car, standard bore) auto with 3.23 gears. The engine had a .100 milled head, standard valves, mild port work, Clifford intake, 500 afb, Clifford shorty headers,2 1/2 single exhaust with a Flowmaster 40, Petronix ignition. Made 153 rear wheel hp. The guy(running the dyno) said guesstamation 200-208 at the fly wheel. So ?? who knows just a ball park figure.

With 10:1 compression, Mike Jeffrey street ported head with 289 Ford valves, Racer Brown ST-14 cam 266 degrees .485 lift, a 500CFM Holley 2BBL, and clifford shorty headers mine made 186HP at the rear wheels. The same engine with a Racer Brown ST-22 cam 276 degrees .505 lift and a Demon 525CFM four barrel made 214HP. This is with an OD 4 speed where the chassis losses aren't as high as with an automatic.

Curious were you using the stock cam, Romeo?
63Dart just to give you a baseline, my stock '72 Valiant 225/904 with 2.76er's out back and holley 1920 put 80HP and 140 LB-FT Torque to the wheels. Good enough for a 17.8 @ 75 MPH in the quarter mile. 8)

Yes, I had a nitrous "sneeze", on the run against Ron Hamby, and hurt 3 pistons. Don't really know why. Put three piston/rod assy in from another motor, and that's the way it is today.

The race shop I used to work at is installing a new Superflow engine dyno. The owner is begging me to bring out my engine so he can make a few pulls.

Stock valves, cam, running pig rich blowing black smoke. I drilled the jets on a BBD..........not good.

89HP at the wheels on a portable dyno at the Music City show.

I ran 10.58's in the 1/8th @ 59 mph before the pig rich carb.

Mike J has spent a ton of time on Bogner's dyno with his stocker motor. He has found that most of the time the stock jets in a BBD are rich anyway.
