Hello folks-

New to the forum. Just trying to find a fellow enthusiasts that can provide some technical help to my son who lives in Hollywood, CA. He owns a stock 1970 Swinger with a slant 6 and a Holley 1920 carb. He loves the car and it is in very good shape, however, he could use a little advice from time to time and he needs a knowledgable slant 6 mechanic that can help with tune ups & such. Are there any local enthusiats that can help?

Thanks,
Scott Weidman

Can't answer your question directly, but the best thing he can do is educate himself. As quickly as he can, he should get the three books described in this thread, as purchase number one -- before any tools or parts.

Tune-up parts and technique suggestions in this thread. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download. The engine will need periodic valve adjustment .

Madmax/6 (Mark E. - better know as "Moto Guzzi Mark") may-be able to help, he is in Long Beach.

Thanks for the response. He is doing just what you suggested. He is slowly purchasing manuals, etc. He just has not been in contact yet with like minded car people. He stays pretty busy at work (TV writer) and doesn't always have time to tinker.
Anyway, thanks again, I'm sure there are several others in his general location that he will come in contact with.
