I'd like to add an A/F meter to use with an oxygen sensor in one of my slants. I see Summit and others offer a wideband o2 sensor to go with an A/F meter. Anyone running such a kit and if so any recommendations - good or bad.

Do you have a narrowband O2 sensor already, and you're looking for just the meter, or are you looking for a whole wideband sensor+gauge system?

With narrowband sensors from the parts store, I've used a Sunpro meter for $30 that works fine. For best results get an AEM or Innovate wideband sensor+gauge for about $220.

Lou, thanks for the reply. I currently have nothing except the factory bung welded in the downpipe. I thought I saw where someone was recommending a wideband set-up (sensor and gauge) from Amazon but can't seem to find it using the search function. Any suggestions on what to use?

I have an AEM wideband setup on my '64 Dart. About $200 from summitracing.com. Worth it over a narrowband.

I'm using the Innovate MTX-L wideband. $189 from Amazon.

MTX-L Wideband on Amazon

So far it is working well, and the wiring and calibration is simplified over the LC-1. Not a big deal but everything helps. Works fine with Megasquirt.

I've taken a look at the AEM brand and am thinking about the 30-4100. Yes? No? Would be using it in my 87 D100 with 72 Super Six-equipped slant.

Not using Megasquirt nor the factory brain box. Will be HEI equipped.

My Inovate LC -1 is acting up once again. It is throwing error 8 codes again. Gun pilot, it looks like your set is only about $100 more than a new sensor for the LC-1 which the folks at Inovate are saying I need.

How is yours simplified over mine? CAn you describe the primary difference between the two systems. Is there an analogue output from the MTX-1 to hook into your MS II? In my book simple is usually better.

Try more capacitor............

Do you have a heat sink on the sensor?

Thanks Ed. Yes, there is a heat sink. It is aluminum, and finned, and sets the sensor out about 1/4" or so. It is a piece I fabricated of sheet stock, so may not be as conductive as a solid piece. I wonder if I should weld it together.

More capacitor means what? Higher number than 10 mfd? And it is a Radio Shack piece, which I was warned against. It did seem to work for a couple of days.

Yep, more than 10mfd

You can add them in parallel for more capacity.

Ed, Does that mean 2@10 MFD in parallel, or 20MFD and maybe two in parallel? Typical dumb dumb question from me.

Sam for this purpose the more the better - think on a bigger scale. Several hundred to several thousand micro farads. If your stuck with radioshack pick the biggest cap they have on the shelf that's rated at least 15v. Something like this would be appropriate. I have some 1/4F (yes, 250,000uF) if you want supreme overkill :)

Move LC equipment ground and positive cables to the battery itself. I did this same and was no problem except mine is home built kit from a smart guy just to save on money.

Cheers, Wizard
