It is the mounting plate I'm questioning.
One end bolts to distributor body, the other end bolts to engine.
Is there a starting point for setting the distributor bolt ?
As in the middle of the slot arc ? Where do I start ?
Which one is used for final timing light adjustment ?

tighten one under dist in the middle....bring engine to TDC on #1 ...install dist so rotor end up pointing at #1 on cap....use base bolt to adjust timing ....if a bit more is needed use bolt under dist .... if not enough remove and move a tooth....if done right both bolts should be near center of slot
