Hi All,

I have a 65 Dart with a Super Six conversion and Pertronix ingition. My vacuum advance diaphram is bad and was wondering what would be the best inches to open would be best. The engine has an RV 10 cam and the timing is set at 10BDC. I also have the new 2BBL Holley Dan recomended. Also, should I open the gap on my plugs to .040 or keep them at .035? Thanks for any help.

We would need to know your vacc. readings at part throttle an full throttle to make a guess...We also would need to know what can you intend to use as different models can be used for different effect (more timing, comes on later, advances fast...less timing advances slowly).

Points distributor vacc. can comes in two flavors: 13 degrees of total advance or 19 degrees of total advance...when it comes in depends on which model you pick and how much adjustment it allows.

Okay D., at idol or just above I have 17". I have not checked it a full throttle. Since I have no vacuum advance right now, should I rev the engine to full throttle? I just bought the vacuum gauge today to troubleshoot the rough idol. It was while driving the car the first time with the new super six that the engine started running rough.
One upgrade I hav'nt done yet is to open up the exhaust which is on my list to do next.

Get a length of vacuum hose to attach to gage long enough to loop it from under hood through wing window onto dash. Hit the road and start recording readings at various throttle openings while on flat ground, up and down hill. If you have a tachometer, correlate vacuum readings with rpm.
