I want wide ratio gears, but I am having trouble finding a later model 904. Is it better to get the gearset and swap in to the nonlockup I already have, or should I just keep hunting?

What is the intended use of the transmission? Drag racing? Highway cruising in a light car? Pulling stumps in a dump tuck?

For a daily driver car,the LU trans will give you better fuel economy, for performance or towing uses, the non-LU is best. The wide ratio gearset could be put in a 67-up trans, but it is a PITA to get the shift points correct. I also don't recomend WR unless your car has 2.2 or 2.45 gears. With 2.76 and up gears, the car won't stay in 2nd gear long enough for highway passing or merging.

Mostly, just driving around. But I wanted it to be able to get out of its own way from a standing start w/o sacrificing overall drivability...72 Valiant, not that light
