These were designed with lots of timing, and an EGR to knock it all back to barely run well (stock this car could no get out of it's own way...but highway cruise very nicely). Also the Holley 1945 is a vehicle only peice calibrated to work with these parts. To give an approximate to the vacc advance on an EI distributor step up to a Standard motor products VC-208 make sure the adjustment is 3 turns out from tight for close proximity to factory settings. You may get ping as it's going to give you 22 degrees of vacc. advance almost all the time...

I am running the VC-208 can (22 degrees of vacuum advance) , with 20 degrees mechanical and 10 degrees initial. It is a close as I can get to the Feather Duster timing (52 degrees). Instead of running the EGR, to soften the timing I run alcohol and water injection which kicks in at 2000 rpm. That keeps it from pinging on a hot day and keeps engine head clean.
