Hey folks, I checked the tranny FAQ to find out how many turns to set the bands for my 63 904 with a shift kit but they don't list my year.
youtube shows 4 and 2.5 but doesnt say which year or if a shift kit changes that.
Does anyone have that info they can provide?
Thanks
John

can't help with shift kit info-- 62 manual has info you sure your 63 doesn't also?
kick down--- 1. loosen lock nut back off approx 5 turns.
2. tighten adjusting screw to 72 inch pounds (unless you have the c-3705 adapter)
3.back off adjusting screw 2 turns (225 ) or 2 5/8 turns (170)
hold adj. screw & tighten lock nut to 20 ft lbs

low/reverse 1. 5 turn loosen lock nut
2.72 inch pound adj nut tighten
3. back off 5.25turns-- tighten lock nut to 20 ft lbs
4.re-install oil pan & gasket

A shift kit doesn't change the adjustment specs for the bands, unless the kit came with a new/different intermidiate (second gear-front) band actuator lever. I think the stock units had a 2.5 to 1 ratio. Performance units were 3.8, 4.2 or 5.0 to 1, which allowed the servo to apply more clamping force to the band, but it had to travel farther to do that. Those needed different amounts of adjustment to work properly & not slip or drag.

If it's stock lever, use VDart's numbers, they're the same as my 63 svc manual.

Added the '62 Information to the Band Adjustment link in the FAQ. I need to clean that up and get it in chronological order.

If anyone can add more years and specs, PM me, and I will get them in there.

Thank you! :D
