My buddy (a good welder) and I spent like 8 hours yesterday reworking my pipes off of my Dutra duals (we are all forever in Doug's debt for designing the Dutra Dual system).

Here are a few pics of the new pipes. It's works great, but it's not quite finished, as we have to go back an weld in my bungs in new spots and take out a weird angle in one of the pipes. Otherwise though, they are frickin' awesome, as they clear all the important spots with ease, namely the steering linkage, the block, the tranny/pan, the steering box and the shifter linkage....and they are stainless.

I used this incredibly small and well designed ($80, Vibrant Performance, available from Summit) SS Y pipe, which has dual 2" inlets and a 2.5" outlet:

I also used Summit SS band clamp connectors/joints for the end so I could use either SS or aluminized for the rest of the system.

Tig'd stainless. Purdy! Friend and I did something similar here except we had to fight clutch linkage and dual duals, not just a single.

Nothin like a slightly slanted redhead to get ya movin.

Last time I had hacksawed and tacked together the prototype, had him weld it up, but this improvement was with his help and the right tools to do the job at our fingertips. Still it took us several hours of tinkering, measuring, cutting and welding. much of the original setup is gone, this one is much better for clearance all the way around.

At this point we'd cut out one of my O2 bungs and the other one is in accessible, but the plan is to go back in and cut out the bad bits, reinstall O2 bungs in good places.

I'm told the Y up higher, like on Pierre's dual-Dutra system, gives you more low end torque. During the tinkering phase I had my Y up in there, but then decided to go for maximum clearance in the engine bay to see where it would take us. Since we're dealing with a slant, the finished pipe installs easily, plenty of room to work with.
