Bobby Rogers (mmsc) is working to make up some windshield graphics for the Slant Six Racers.
Here are some ideas he FAXed me. (not the best quality fax but it shows the different styles and options)

Which ones do you guys like?
I like the simple style of number 7 at the bottom, with white lettering on a black background it would show-up great. I like the wording of # 5.

Now is the time to get a killer lay-out so let the ideas run wild.

I like #5-letters in white?

I have wanted one that said "slant six raceing news points race" or
"slant six racing news shootout"--------like the pro mods said dodge pro mod shootout.

Another vote for #5.

Seems like #5 is popular so far. I think SSRN should be added to that also.
SSRN SLANT SIX DRAG RACING.
White would be the color but we should also consider the height & length of the decal. The intended purpose is to be installed across the top of the front windshield .

I will get some mesurments off my A-Body(s) and post them.
If anyone has a B/E-Body / Truck etc. we should get those mesurments.
We could run that Checker Flag pattern "wild" off either end so the same decal can be used on different width windshields, just trim to fit.

I'll have to test my theory with a mock-up, but consider this. Many cars have dark interiors. At a distance, most will look dark inside, if for nothing more than the shadows cast by the roof. They all will appear dark as the sun sets on evening events. You do race after sunset, don't you?

What would be the point of a black background? Usually, that would be incorporated into a design to help "frame" the lighter foreground features, in this case the white lettering. Also, notice how the racing checkers in several of the designs lose their impact, because the white checks along the outside edge tend to blend into the white background on your monitor?
I think the same thing will happen with the black checks once the decal is installed on a windshield. They will get lost in the shadows and dark interiors seen behind them.

If the checker pattern is used, I would suggest maybe a thin line or two to help form a frame to "contain" the checks. You might be able to do away with the background for the text completely. You probably need to think past this just being used for window decals. You know people will want it on tee shirts and coffee mugs as well. There will have to be one style with dark letters to be used on light backgrounds (white tee shirts).

Just thinking out loud. I'll have to prove it to myself, too. Personally, I like the idea of having a unique logo of sorts. Something that is universally recognized at a glance, or at a distance, without having to read what it represents.

Jerry

Some good ideas. I like the idea of a unique logo like the Forum has (such as #3).

Actually, there will be no Black checkers or Black background. Anythiong you see in the samples will be WHITE only.
Go to this site and look at sample photos to see what we are talking about:

I like #5 as well, but I also suggest #1 or 2 as a 1/4 panel decal. I also suggest the SSRN be incorporated into one of the logos as well.

Guys we are working on the designs, especially #5. We are adding SSRN to the line on a couple of them and will post as soon as we can.

We still need some measurements from you concerning length & height of the graphics. Some of the smaller windshield cars like Dale & Charles Arrows and Tom's Simca will require a smaller size.

I feel These windshield decals will add alot to the SSRN Points Series cars and will add a professional approach to the Slant Six racing series in the eyes of other racers and tracks.

We would also like some input on the interest from the drivers for these decals. This will give us an idea how many will be needed.

About how much would they run, price wise? I live up in Wa, far from any of the ssrn races, but would entertain the possibility of getting one of the stickers if they were inexpensive. I'm a poor kid, and all my $$ goes into my slant. But if they aren't much, I like #3. Let me know, thanks.
