Long time slant six owner but this is my first post here. I have a 904 in my 1968 valiant. Runs and shifts amazing but I got that dodge drain, after cleaning and doing a pan seal/new pan (bolt holes were over driven and bellied) I can see clearly it is overflowing from the shift shaft seal after a day or two of sitting. I looked at a ton of posts on here concerning this but I never found a part number or part make...somewhere I can find this and know I am ordering the right one. I found one on ebay, but no brand on it,I have heard people elude to TIMKEN making one? Can anyone help? Here is what I found on ebay but it looks a little different from the old exploded views of the 904 in service manuals I found?

Thanks A Ton in Advance!

I believe the one in your link is to seal the kickdown shaft inside the shift lever. The seal for the shift shaft is:

It is best to change both seals (inner & outer) once you are in there.
Pat Blast (Torqueflite Patty) offers a special "problem solver" double lip outer seal, if you find that the tower has a worn groove in it, from the single lip factory seal.

Wow, thanks for the speedy reply, I had a feeling what I was looking at on eBay wasn't right that is why I posted. Now DD said change inner and outer, are they the same seal or are they different. I would definitely do both if I can get both, my friend is a mechanic and has been a tranny tech for ford for over 15 yrs, he is going to do this one for me, he is going to drop the valve body (not gonna try to sneak it in from the top) so we will be up in there anyway. Let me know if the inner is a different part or something. Thanks again, I always find what I am looking for here.

Your E-Bay ad is the inner, the one I posted is the outer.

While you're at it, save yourself aggravation of future leaks with the pan and pan gasket info in this post.

Thanks for all the Input. I found the Timken number in the parts list got the Cross Reference from Autozone for 2.50, I ordered the Transgo TF1 kit from Summit for 50 something, I am going to have a professional do it and the seal. I didnt order the inner, i am going to see what the other one looks like and see if I can find one locally once I have it out. Thanks again for the input. I did a pan and rubber gasket 3 months ago, so I may stick with that for now. Let me know if there is anything else i need to check or adjust while I am in there.
