I was talking with my father today, it being fathers day and suddenly he says Oh my 65 had a oiler for the distributor little tab lifts up and you oil it. I have never heard of such, so he took me out and showwed me this thing on the oil filter side of the distributor. Is this ment to be oiled? how often? and what type Oil?

I've seen those on OEM distributors for pre 70's????? mopars, all my 60's mopars came with them, all the electronic dist. setups I have never had that item. My grandfather used to put a few drops in the hole everytime he changed the oil in his cars...

The later distributers have a felt wick in the shaft, just under the roter. The oil lubricates the bushings the distributer shaft rides on. In fact, I did it just yesterday! I used some 30wt my dad had in an old oil can. Strange.......
