Are there top and bottom O rings to the spark plug tubes? Does the spark plug hold the o ring in place? How difficult is it to remove the tubes?

We continue trying to eliminate some seeping oil.... we siliconed the head to the block and replaced the valve cover gasket--and now--still some light oil seepage from spark plug tubes.
Where can we purchase the o rings? Recommended replacement plugs?

My 68 dodge dart 270 runs great- now with 43000 miles.

There is only one seal on each spark plug tube, at the "top" (under the flange). The seals are still readily available. The spark plug holds the tube in place, and the tube holds the seal in place. When the seal gets old and hardened, it sometimes sticks the tube in place. Remove the plug, stick a finger in the tube, press down or sideways a little to unstick it, and remove it. Remember to remove and discard the metal ring washer from each spark plug before installing it! Tune-up parts and technique suggestions (including plugs and plug tube seals, etc) are in this thread. Sillycone smeared on the outside of a gasket junction is a very temporary band-aid at best; if a gasket is leaking, it needs replaced.

You'll want to get the three books in this thread as soon as you can.

I've read this warning many times but what happens if you don't remove the gasket from the spark plug? How does it create a problem?

The plugs run hotter than they should, which means increased tendency for the engine to ping, which forces you to retard the timing (costing performance and economy) or waste your money on high-test gasoline. See here.

The metal gasket left on the spark plugs will also smash into the softer aluminium tube material and distort the flat surface at the end of the tube... making it harder to seal the next time.

The replacement o-rings are junk. I have had them start leaking in 3 months. Get the 2-218 o-ring from Motion Industries or a similar store. I had these in one car for 10 years without any leaks.
