Hello friends... On one of my ms slants runs on a single coil system with dist. Running the timing and spark distribution. Do you have any coil reccomendations? It runs an older style cylindrical coil like on a stock slant 6. I had recently gone through (burned out) 2 MSD blaster coils... I need to rethink the ignition on this setup or I possibly have a coil driver in the MS II box that is burning out coils. What do you recommend? I suppose i could crank the dwell down as well. I would have to check settings to see what it is currently. Thanks for your help! Greg |

Maybe the MSD coil needs a ballast? Not so likely, but just thought I'd ask/confirm. Maybe try an old stock coil? I doubt you will see any difference in running. Lou |

It is possible the msd needs a ballast. I suppose i was lucky for all those years without running one. But now my ignorance is catching up with me. Greg |

The only coils I use with distributor ignition are OEM GM coils used with EFI. I burned out a few aftermarket coils before I went back to the indistructible coils that work with HEI modules ( including 7 pin to be used with EFI) |

Sounds like a cool car. Are you in Adelaide? I went to a V8 Supercars and Touring Car Masters race there in 2014. Pit crewed for Cameron Tilley. He has the coolest and fastest Slant 6 EFI/turbo machine ... ever. Lou |

I bought a 3rd coil in 3 months... this time its a non ballast resistor type.. and i tried to turn the dwell just above the point where it was misfiring. We'll see how it goes. Greg |
