Good day Slanty folks!

For some time i've used these forums as a guideline but i kinda stumbled against this now.

My 60/61 Plymouth manual tells me to Remove the spark plug washers,..

the service bulletin ( https://www.hamtramck-historical.com/im ... /63-10.jpg )
starts with the note of the new CHAMPION spark plug type, and ends with when you're using a CHAMPION! plug keep it on with 60/61/62 engines...so i guess with the new champion plug-keep it on.

Now i'm not native english so i'd rather get double check-ed. i dont use Champions.. i use NGK (Zfr5n) in my '61 engine. should i remove the washers?!

The info i've got now would say Yes. but i'd rather be sure.

Enjoy your evening, kind regards, Enrico

The way I understand it, According to the document, yes if your vehicle has the original head 1960,61, 62 Cylinder Head, leave the washers on, regardless of spark plug type, brand.

Later versions of the head have a revision that allows the washers to be removed..

I would like to see a photo comparison of the Machined recess head (63-74) vs the early ones (60-62)

Dan and Doc Might have some more insight on this subject; I know Dan has mentioned it many times before.

Cheers!

Greg

I thought it was the other way around; remove the washer for 63 and later heads but leave it on for 60-62.

Yes you are right.

Greg

The thing that confuses me , is that my original 60/61 Plymouth manual tells me to remove them anyway.

Bulletin would say otherwise, but I don't get what the washers exactly would do on my head

That information was updated after the '60 and '61 manuals were printed. See here (with links) and the attached.
