So, I need a clutch. (super high pedal engagement, but no slip yet) As I have imited space, I'd prefer to order the parts before I pull it all appart. Is there any way to tell externally whick kit to get? It's a 225 3 on the tree that is not stock to the vehicle (1973 D200 was a 400 Auto) The thermostat cover indicates a 1976 but who knows. Rock Auto lists 2 different sizes, and a few types. (diaphragm, lever...) Any hints? or do I pull it apart then wait a week or more to do the job.

Dumb question? probably, but what the heck.

Have you tried adjusting the clutch linkage first? You can pull the bottom cover and take some pics and we can likely tell you which clutch. You can drive it w/o the lower cover if you wish.

Pull the inspection cover.

Check clutch plate thickness with calipers etc.

I bet it is also the adjustment.

On the truck if the body/ cab mounts fail/get soft it can effect the clutch / z bar adjustment / grab point.

If you do not know how to adjust your clutch it is in the FSM. Also pm me and we can talk on the fone. Too much to type here.

Cheers!

Greg

Thanks for the info! I think every clutch I have ever done is a hydraulic clutch, so I didn;'t think about that. The P.O said the clutch was going so I just assumed he knew what he was talking about. I'll have a look-see when I get a chance.

Much appreciated. Much of this truck is a mystery.
