 Post subject: Torque Convertor Numbers
PostPosted: Tue Oct 21, 2003 8:13 am
I recently purchased a rebuilt pushbutton 904 from a defunct dealership that was sitting for years. The tranny has a long tailshaft and the numbers on the case indicate it is somewhere around a 1964 vintage. My question is did they use different torque convertors on the 904? My '64 parts book only shows one number, but the input spline count is different than the 904 that is currently in my '64 Dart.

How many splines? The 64 trans should have 18 splines. In 1968 the shaft diameter was increased, and the spline count went to 27. At the same time the diameter of the hole, and the flex plate register in the end of the crank changed.
