I want to check the fluid level in the rear axle housing on my 63 valiant. What tool do I need to get the plug out?? The plug is splined. Also what is the reccomended oil for this application? This is an all stock 63 Valiant. Thanks for the help.....G.

It should be an 8-point spline in which case a 1/2" ratchet will work just fine.

The fill plug on the cover of a 7 1/4 accepts a 1/2 square, like a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar or rachet wrench.
Top the unit off with 90 wt. gear lube, use the limited slip oil if the unit has a sure grip (posi ) unit.
